Clinical win for TecnoMed LLP
TecnoMed LLP has been awarded the UK sole introducer contract to sell and supply the complete range of medical equipment for Tecno-Gaz, one of Europe’s market leading manufacturers.
The company is part of the Audere Medical group of companies and has been set-up as a result of winning the contract. TecnoMed LLP will operate from Audere’s headquarters in Usk and build and develop a portfolio of public and private sector clients throughout the UK in one of the largest medical device markets in the world, with an estimated value in 2007 of £5.1bn.
Audere Medical Services Limited has been operating in the medical equipment sector for over a decade, specialising in the servicing, testing, commissioning and upgrading of all types of
sterilizers, washer disinfectors and decontamination equipment. The combination of their knowledge of the UK healthcare industry, with the quality and range of Tecno-Gaz equipment, will enable them to immediately compete against established competitors.
Ken Milner, director of TecnoMed LLP, explained the significance of this contract and why TecnoMed LLP won’t just be targeting the NHS in the UK, the principle purchaser of medical equipment. He said, “The UK medical equipment and supplies market is changing. Over the last five years the value of the imported product market (£4.6bn) has been consistently greater than that of UK produced medical equipment (£3.45bn). Therefore the winning of this contract with Tecno-Gaz provides TecnoMed LLP with an opportunity to enter a growth market. The majority of domestic manufacturers is small and undercapitalised and this has led to inelastic domestic supply as manufacturers are unable to respond to a change in demand”.
He continued: “Tecno-Gaz is the market leader in Italy and the second largest in Europe. It’s knowledge and understanding of the market place is proved, hence the quality and diverse range of state-of-the-art medical equipment and supplies. We won’t just be focusing on targeting NHS and private hospitals, we have identified other sectors of this industry to supply the Tecno-Gaz products, including dental practices, dental laboratories, veterinary practices and even beauty parlours and tattooists”.
Umberto Mara, export manager for Tecno-Gaz, was in the UK to complete the signing of the contract with TecnoMed LLP. He said, “This isn’t the first time that we have entered the UK market. We have had a presence here since 1997, but because of the significant changes in the UK market, we have decided to make this commitment and invest in developing a strong working relationship with TecnoMed LLP. As part of the contract we will be providing the TecnoMed LLP employees with specific manufacturer training so that all their technicians are fully accredited. TecnoMed LLP will also, as part of their contract with us, be supplying genuine manufacturer guaranteed components and their technical support services for existing Tecno-Gaz equipment whatever its age and condition”.
